The MSC Houston was caught in a storm in the Atlantic Ocean and lost 15 containers in Portuguese waters!
Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC)'s container ship, "MSC Houston V," encountered severe weather in the Atlantic Ocean, resulting in the loss of several containers overboard. The incident occurred on Thursday, March 20, while the vessel was en route from Piraeus, Greece, to Liverpool, UK.
As the ship sailed near Cape St. Vincent, Portugal, it was hit by strong winds and massive waves brought by Storm Martinho, with wind speeds reaching up to 48 knots. During the incident, at least 15 containers were lost overboard, while many others collapsed on deck. Some containers were even left dangling dangerously off the ship’s starboard stern.
To ensure safety and assess the damage, the "MSC Houston V" diverted to Vigo, Spain, seeking shelter. It arrived at the port on the morning of March 21 (local time).
(Note: "Martinho" is likely a localized name for the storm; if it's part of a larger weather system, you may adjust the storm's name accordingly.)
